What Makes A Brand Clean Beauty

What makes a brand considered to be clean beauty?

It is way more than just a trend.

The clean beauty market is also more than a growing industry.

Clean beauty products stand to improve the health of the individuals using them.

For a brand to be clean beauty, the main vein is transparency.

Clean beauty is free of ingredients linked to harmful health side effects. To take it a step further, it means a brand that doesn’t use ingredients that cause endocrine disruption and include carcinogens.

The transparency piece is what the brand is responsible for - in telling consumers what is in the product (without the legal hoops) and in an honest way that avoids using terms such as organic and natural as a way to imply the products they create are clean (aka, greenwashing).

That means. No mystery. No false or misleading claims.

Basically, what you see is what you get.

Clean beauty brands will do their due diligence to avoid ingredients such as:

  • Parabens

  • Fragrance

  • Oxybenzone

  • Diethanolamine (DEA)

  • Triclosan

  • Phthalates

  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS)

  • Formaldehyde

  • Polyethylene (PEG)

  • Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA)

Clean beauty is not about being 100% perfect. It is also not necessary to completely avoid ingredients that are man-made.

It simply means safer and nontoxic - with intention.

Clean beauty isn’t a trend & it certainly isn’t going anywhere.

In fact, 50% of women are already using cleaner products.
